Chili powder (also spelled chile, chilli or, alternatively, chili powder) is the dried, powdered fruit of one or more varieties of chili pepper, sometimes with the addition of other spices (in which case it is sometimes known as chili powder). It is used as a seasoning (or spice blend) to add spiciness and flavor to dishes. Chili powder is used in many different cuisines, including American (especially Tex-Mex), Mexican, Chinese, Indian, Bangladeshi, Korean, Portuguese, and Thai. A chili powder blend is the main flavoring in Chili con Carne.
